Over 65% of gun deaths each year are suicides rather than violent crimes, according to a CBS News article on a mother who killed herself while battling bipolar disease.
According to Mike Anestis, a professor at the Rutgers School of Public Health, “Suicide accounts for anywhere between 60% and 65% of all the gun fatalities that occur in the U.S. in any given year.” was stated to CBS News.
According to University of Alabama professor Fred Vars, “there were 66 gun suicides each day in 2020, which is more than perished in the deadliest mass shooting in American history. We are unable to recognize it. It does not make the news, you know. One person at a time, that is how it works. We don’t hear about it unless it involves a celebrity.”
According to Breitbart News, gun control advocates frequently inflate statistics on gun violence by including suicide rates with those for real homicides.
For instance, on Nov. 3, 2015, Breitbart News reported that Hillary Clinton, who was running for president at the time, produced a gun control advertisement in which she combined suicides with homicides involving firearms and increased the number of “gun violence” statistics by about 66 percent.
About 32 homicides per day, or approximately 11,713 homicides in 2013, were tied to guns. Clinton was able to report a number of 32,888 persons “killed by guns” and emphasize that that equated to “88 to 92 individuals” each day by including suicides.
In 2020, Mike Bloomberg tweeted, “100 Americans were slain by guns yesterday. The day before that as well. Furthermore, the day before that.”
He combined homicides and suicides, much like Clinton, to arrive at his daily figures.
According to the Chicago Tribune’s Steve Chapman, who was quoted by Breitbart News on December 19, “No amount of gun control will stop suicide, which is the primary force behind such deaths.” Gun control is not the answer to American gun deaths.
“The types of gun control restrictions that are politically feasible in the United States,” according to Chapman, “would be useless. We could outlaw 15-round magazines or semi-automatic ‘assault guns,’ but people who want to shoot themselves don’t need either.”
He also mentioned Japan, a country with some of the strictest gun prohibitions on the planet and a suicide rate that is significantly higher than that of the United States. And he pointed out that hanging is the most common method of suicide in Japan, something that gun control does little to alleviate.
Making more gun control laws is not going to stop the gun violence because the people who commit the gun crimes don’t obey the law in the first place.

(years ago) IF Amerika were to obey GOD, each state would execute 1 murderer, every day (except Sunday) and we would break even. Now it is even worse, and society will get more violent because we do not obey. Take guns away, and just like England, evil people will use knives, hammers, baseball bats, tire irons. There was a show on discovery about illegal guns being made by hand outside the US and brought into the country illegally if discovery can get there to film the show how come the government can’t stop them the show even explained how they get them into the US our government is attacking the legal guns and not trying to stop the illegals
