The actor Brian Cox expressed his opinion that religion prevents people from progressing and called the Bible “one of the worst texts ever.”
In an interview that aired on Sunday on the podcast “The Starting Line,” the self-described socialist made such remarks. Cox was elaborating on the need for a more matriarchal society and arguing that the patriarchy had fallen short of accurately capturing the essence of humanity.
Regarding women, Cox remarked, “We do because we have to acknowledge them and give them their position, and we are reluctant to do that.”
“Those would be Adam and Eve.” The Bible is among the worst texts ever written, in my opinion, since it begins with the notion of Adam’s rib. He continued, “The propaganda extends all the way back.” “You know, due to their ignorance, they hold the belief that this lady originated from Adam’s rib.”
He continued by asserting that the biblical tales were fabrications and misinformation.
It is not necessary to lie to them; they need it, he said. They require some sort of truth, and it is not the truth, you know. It is a mythology, not reality.”
He continued by suggesting that eliminating religion would hasten human evolution.
“We are not fully mature. We are not mature enough. We have not even progressed past the infant stage of life,” he remarked.
“In essence, we are so f***ed up.”They are basically f***ed. And they still are,” said Cox. “And since they truly are that stupid, they will not be able to stop being f*****ed, and they will not be doing anything about it.” “The problem with mankind is that it is incredibly, incredibly foolish.”
After stressing that religion forbids people from looking within while acting is a reflection of nature, he also referred to the theater as the one real church.
That is the best thing about my job. That is what I do for a living, and Shakespeare refers to it as “holding the mirror up to nature”—that we return the favor to the rest of mankind, said Cox.
He asserted, “That is why the theater is the one real church out of all the churches because it is the church of mankind.”
He said, “It is humans coping with all those problems we deal with on a daily basis and all those false gods that we make for ourselves.” The idea of a “god” is also somewhat of a conceit, a horrible delusion that we do not truly admit to the extent that it warrants acknowledgment.
After four seasons, Cox concluded his role as the main character on the hit HBO series “Succession.”

Too many young people’s minds are not mature enough to distinguish between reality and fantasy. They too often try living the fantasy and the rest of us suffer for it. We need to go back to age related ratings and parents need to take some responsibility. Hollywood places “0” limits on what is shown on screen, so I guess it is up to us to regulate it.
