Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) spoke about his state’s plans to cope with Communist China’s attempts to acquire land as real estate prices continue to rise on FNC’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Wednesday.
The governor of Florida stated that he intended to work with the Florida Legislature to enact a “flat prohibition.”
The host Tucker Carlson remarked, “So one of the difficulties is that in Florida, so many people have migrated here, but real estate prices have gone incredibly expensive. Buying more real estate by other nations, particularly China doesn’t benefit any Americans. Additionally, this occurs in other states. What solution do you have for this?”
DeSantis declared, “We don’t want the CCP to buy any land, and they won’t do it directly either. They’ll have shell corporations, so we’ll need a system in place to check this out. Why, then, would we encourage them to own farmland? Even ten years ago, there wasn’t much farmland in the United States. They now have large holdings, but less so in Florida but more so in other states around the nation. Why would we want the CCP to hold property close to a base of operations or important infrastructure?”
Therefore, he continued, “we’re seeking a flat prohibition, and we’re going to be working with the Florida Legislature to get this done. Tucker, American policymakers have been strengthening the CCP for a generation. They claimed it would turn out in the end. Democracy would spread to China. In actuality, our nation is under a very significant threat from this. Why would we want them to exert even more influence than they currently do on American society?”
