In a news release on Monday, Florida secretary of state Cord Byrd said, “As Secretary of State, I have a duty to safeguard the personal information of Florida’s people, which the ERIC agreement compels us to share. Florida tried to support changes to uphold protections, but these changes were rejected. As a result, we no longer have faith in ERIC.”
Following the example of Louisiana and Alabama, Florida terminated its membership in ERIC along with West Virginia and Missouri. Previously, the DeSantis team had provided excuses for its involvement in the far-left voter roll manipulation system and justified its ties to ERIC.
Florida Sec. of State Cord Byrd reportedly told election integrity advocates in a private session that “Florida likes ERIC” and that their worries could be disregarded since they use ERIC “a bit differently” than other states. This is according to a report from the American Policy Center. However, analysis conducted by The People’s Audit and the Florida GOP Assembly, two well-known election integrity organizations in Florida, showed that the use of ERIC in Florida is just as detrimental as it is anyplace else.
Due to ERIC’s negligence, those groups discovered over 500,000 wrong or “undeliverable” addresses that were listed on Florida’s voter rolls. It was also discovered that the incorrect addresses on the rolls led to undeliverable mail building up in unguarded facilities, creating more opportunities for election fraud and costing the American public money.
DeSantis’ poor track record on matters relating to election integrity has been covered by the media:
“To prevent Democrat voter fraud in his state,” Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared in 2021 that “he would establish an Office of Election Crimes and Security.”
“We are thrilled to announce that next legislative session we are presenting another package of election integrity measures that will make Florida the top state for elections,” DeSantis said in November 2021 after the announcement of the new position.
“I am thrilled that this measure will enable our state to crack down on election irregularities, combat voter fraud, and ensure that offenders are held accountable. Potential offenders will be considerably less likely to act improperly in the first place if they are aware that they would be held accountable,” he continued.
According to populist strategist Alex Bruesewitz, “DeSantis merely puts on a choreographed show” and he “won’t fall for it again” because “every case brought out” by the Office of Election Crimes and Security “has been dropped in court.”
“The Florida legislature has the right to create a centralized system,” she wrote. “If the legislature would like a centralized prosecutor with the authority to pursue any alleged illegality throughout Florida, without statutory support, this court will not permit such a concentrated power.”
The true sources of election fraud—unsecured systems and unreliable mail-in ballots—remain unaffected by DeSantis’s cowardice.
Although Florida’s decision to leave ERIC is welcome news, DeSantis needs to be closely monitored to make sure that he is not collaborating with the Left or RINOs in any other cunning ways with regard to voter information.
NO NO NO WE CA’NT HAVE AN HONEST ELECTION LIE CHEAT AND STEAL THE AMERICAN WAY ALL THE WOKE SHEEPLE.FJB
We must get back to paper marked by hand ballots and counting in precincts to prevent ANY election fraud. It would not be that hard. Any other method will leave a window open for cheating.
Please, we really need voter photo ID laws passed. Add a fingerprint too while we’re at it for the mail-ins.
DeSantis is honest and for real. Leave him alone.
