We burst into laughter when we first saw this meme with little Axl Rose on the right-hand side of the picture with the “Been to the Moon” label. Well played!
It’s a silly meme, but that’s why we love it. Because it reminds us of things like Donald Trump handing Angela Merkel some Skittles and telling her, “Don’t say I never gave you anything.”
This sort of “Rah-rah, go Team America” meme became especially popular during the 2016 campaign, when President Trump reminded everyone that it’s okay to be proud of your own country. We don’t have to put up with the false narrative that “all cultures are equal, except for America which is the worst.”
And there’s a bit of undeniable truth to this meme as well. We are the only country that has been to the moon, and we’re the only country that refuses to use the metric system. These sorts of memes are popping up all over the place once again now that the 2020 campaign is under way. (Well… it’s sort of under way, other than the fact that the Democrats don’t have a real candidate or a campaign message.)
