The Truth About Norway’s “Minimum Wage”

We’re easily a week out from the supposed revelation that President Donald Trump indicated a preference for immigrants from Norway over immigrants from countries like Haiti (which he may not have even said), but the radical left is absolutely refusing to move on.

Their latest response has been to suggest that there would be no reason to expect immigrants to arrive in the United States from Norway, because the nordic nation already provides everything they need: namely universal healthcare and a generous minimum wage to prevent poverty.

This is essentially the message we’re supposed to take away from the image on the left.

There’s one little problem, however.

Norway doesn’t actually have a minimum wage at all — at least one that’s enforced at the national level. Instead, wages are negotiated between employers, labor representatives, and local governments. This policy has allowed local authorities and businesses to arrive at more comprehensive agreements.

Based on this, it’s no wonder the country’s unemployment rate rarely reaches over 4 percent…it’s almost as if the free market works or something.
