We learned some pretty disturbing things about the NBA as well as the rest of Corporate America in the wake of pro-democracy demonstrations escalating in Hong Kong.
You see, American companies benefit from a free market, capitalist system. Apparently, they also benefit from an authoritarian communist regime, because it just so happens that it governs a lot of people.
The NBA, along with other multi-national corporations, has been cracking down on anti-Chinese messaging. This has reached the point where NBA players like Lebron James seem more patriotic in Communist China than they do right here in the United States. Athletes in America will kneel to protest the American national anthem, but stand loyally to obey whatever Chinese President Xi Jinping orders them to do.
The solution here is a simple one: stop giving the NBA your money. They have done nothing to deserve it, and it’s not like its players will suffer as a result.
