When someone right-of-center opposes government being in charge of distributing a good, they are often accused of being opposed to that good being available at all. Quite the opposite is true.
Throughout history, market forces have shown themselves to be the most efficient means to distribute just about anything — from material goods to professional services. Healthcare is a perfect example. While it is something you have to pay for in the United States, Americans can generally expect the best service and the latest technology to be available to them. However, certain tiers of care are unavailable for people who aren’t able to pay for it — this is when the left steps in.
Modern day liberals are convinced that, by proclaiming something to be an entitlement, economic rules no longer apply. There just simply can’t be shortages of healthcare supplies, and medical professionals can’t be stretched thin — because these goods and services are a human right. Well, this isn’t really how the world works at all.
Scarcity affects every product of every kind — from medications to simple food stuffs. This is an economic reality that doesn’t care about your personal feelings.
