Dumb Twitter User Blames Capitalism for People Needing Glasses

Snowflake alert: if you’re easily irritated, make sure you’re standing a good distance away from anything breakable…

Capitalism is the economic miracle that has kept on giving since it was first developed by medieval serfs who refused to be bought and sold as part of land parcels in feudal England. Economic freedom has allowed the poorest rungs of society to establish conditions that allow everyone who is willing to work for their wealth to thrive. It has also enabled the most intelligent among us to share their gifts in exchange for profit.

This Twitter user clearly understands none of this, evidenced by the post to the left. Apparently, the free exchange of goods is an inherent evil that must be stopped.

It’s no accident that the advent of free markets and free trade has allowed good ideas on one corner of the globe to reach the other side — all because there is an incentive to do so. In the case of glasses, for example, people with impaired eyesight who would have stood no chance in a pre-capitalist society are now able to fare just as well as anyone else. The reason? They value their eyesight more than they value the money they are exchanging for a pair of glasses.
