You’ve heard it a million times over at this point from the mainstream media and everyone who bases their entire worldview off of what they say: Republicans are anti-immigrant because they want strong borders.
Never mind the fact that President Donald Trump did better with legal American immigrants than his Republican predecessors in 2016. Never mind the fact that Republican lawmakers include people like Florida Senator Marco Rubio or Texas Senator Ted Cruz, both of whom come from families that migrated to the United States to flee Cuban communism. That doesn’t matter, because there’s a game to play, and the far left isn’t very fond of losing.
As it stands now, America has some of the most permissive immigration rules in the world. The majority of Republicans don’t want to change that — they simply want to enforce the laws that already exist. This means vetting people who want to come in to work or to claim refugee status. Wanting to verify someone’s claim isn’t bigotry — it’s common sense.
So, again, we have to issue this reminder to every Democrat reading this…breaking the law is in fact against the law.
