Every time a mass shooting hits the headlines in the United States, Republicans and conservatism in general land themselves in the mainstream media’s crosshairs.
There’s just one problem: the culprits behind the massacres are almost always leftists.
Before we get into generalities, let’s examine three recent mass shooting events: the Texas church shooting, the Las Vegas country music festival, and the GOP baseball attack. As if that last example couldn’t make it anymore clear, the targets always appear to be right-of-center.
Now, granted: we don’t know everything about the victims of the mass shooting in Texas besides the fact that they were all presumably Christian. As Paul Joseph Watson recently pointed out, however, we’re looking at a pool of individuals who would statistically have backed President Donald Trump by a commanding margin. The attacker was also found to be a militant atheist.
The same could be said for country music fans, over 60 of which lost their lives when Stephen Paddock opened fire at a festival in Las Vegas. Country music, a genre dominated by Christian themes and Americana aesthetics, is generally enjoyed by individuals with right-wing beliefs.
The last example, of course, is a bit more obvious: Republican lawmakers themselves were targeted by a Bernie Sanders supporter.
Liberals like to talk a lot about how America’s gun culture is somehow a contributor to rising levels of violence. Maybe ideology also plays a part?
