For the past several decades, the Democratic Party has marketed itself as at the home for people of color in the United States. At the same time, Democratic-controlled cities with large minority populations have become terrible places to live.
Chicago and Detroit are two of the most obvious examples. Despite constant lip service to the black community, violent crime in these areas have skyrocketed, and Democratic lawmakers have done little to alleviate the situation. Nevertheless, Democrats in these inner cities continue to enjoy easy re-election bids, and challenges from Republicans are easily thwarted.
This is getting harder and harder to do as more blacks realize they have been played. While Democrats contend that a more generous welfare state will solve all of these problems, Republicans have campaigned on improved law enforcement and more business-friendly policies to bring wealth back into these environments.
There is a reason the “#WalkAway” movement is still catching headlines — Americans of all backgrounds are beginning to see the Democratic Party as the corrupt political machine that it is.
