One of our head writers has a nasty stomach flu at the time of this writing. This served as a piquant realization that COVID is not the only airborne “coronavirus” that sometimes injures and kills the elderly and the infirm. We have lived with viruses that sometimes kill the more frail among us since long before the dawn of recorded history.
That being the case, we wondered if our hyper-vigilance over the bolognavirus is not something akin to the ever-present first-world problems like so-called systemic “isms.”
After all, more Americans are killed in car accidents than any other cause. Medical errors might top that but, of course, medics will never admit errors they can attribute to something else, so lad dee da. But we can never talk about the car crash epidemic because we need to get to Starbucks and we can never admit to the bad doctor epidemic because we worship people in white coats.
Meanwhile, people living in countries where dealing with reality is not optional are, well, dealing with reality.
Maybe we should spend more time outside.

I applaud the creative and honest re-defining of the ‘LGBT’ call letters (as opposed to those who might call LGBT an acronym, which it cannot be since it does not actually spell out a real word). But while the intentions are admirable, such an attitude yends to approve the concept that physical well-being overrides all other concerns such as spiritual health, psychological health and freedoms termed to be self-evident and inalienable rights.
When regarding contemporary issues, one must also take into account the weightier matters that transcend such things as COVID-19, Biden and Putin.
I LOVE it! I vote for this gentleman’s version! Makes at least biological sense, as those are REAL, demonstable, & repeatable in a lab, science, unlike the “popular” version, which is totally subjective & unprovable entirely! (The human genome is mapped: NO gene or cluster thereof, causes any of those claimed conditions!) When, or if, the proponents can actually find such demonstrable & repeatable proof objectively, I’ll consider their evidence fairly. Meanwhile, this gentleman wins!
