Something Feels Very 2020 About the Arrival of Murder Hornets

Yeah, so… “murder hornets” are apparently a thing and they have arrived in America during a pandemic. We told you the shutdowns wouldn’t work!

The good news about murder hornets is that they don’t tend to murder people. They murder colonies of honeybees and use the body parts to feed their babies. That part is not good news, especially if you’re a honeybee. Oh, and that video of a murder hornet killing a mouse will now haunt our nightmares for a few years.

Anyway, here’s a 2020 meme mashup involving the murder hornet and the iconic movie “Jaws.” That’s the shot of Roy Scheider right before he utters the iconic line, “We’re gonna need a bigger boat.”

Part of you just knows that now that we have murder hornets here in the US, there’s going to be a run on some vital household supply unrelated to murder hornet mitigation. It won’t be toilet paper, because there isn’t any more toilet paper to hoard. It will probably be something like ketchup or barbecue charcoal.

One more bit of murder hornet news: While they won’t murder you, they will still sting you like any other hornet and it will hurt. That’s so 2020, isn’t it?
