Before you go straight to the Google machine, we’ll clear something up for you right away: this is a real headline published by real people who work for a real newspaper. We understand that you’ll want to check anyway, so go ahead. The actual article is even more ridiculous.
Apparently, the New York Times invites its readers to write in and see if they are woke enough. Most of the questions are admittedly pretty benign, but the truly ridiculous ones always seem to end up being the headline.
We’ll sum up the article as best we can, if the headline hasn’t done so already. This person spotted a robbery taking place, and actually thought twice about calling the police for social justice reasons. You see, black people are just allowed to commit crimes, and to disagree is racist.
Thankfully, the writers who responded to this insane question weren’t quite as dumb as the person who wrote it. They did, however, concede that it was pretty woke of this writer to think twice about calling the police, because sometimes police can be mean to black people.
This is actually the world we are living in now.
