Former President Donald Trump’s campaign fundraising increased by $7 million after the indictment was revealed Thursday evening, according to Jason Miller, Trump’s top advisor.
“President @realDonaldTrump’s campaign has raised a record $7M in only three days since news of the indictment,” he wrote.
Miller’s tweet came as the former president was on his way to New York City for his trial on Tuesday afternoon. Miller, Susie Wiles, Steven Cheung, Chris LaCivita, and Justin Caporale are said to have taken Trump’s aircraft from West Palm Beach to New York.
Trump’s charge on Thursday was unprecedented. In the history of the United States, no president or past president has ever been indicted.
Many legal experts think Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s argument is unsound. Jonathan Turley, a law professional called it “legally pathetic.” The charge is still sealed.
President Joe Biden has remained silent on the matter. However, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated Friday that Biden was not informed of Trump’s indictment, a presidential contender.
Biden is expected to start a campaign in 2024 and potentially face Trump in the general election. His statement was moved back from February to late summer, according to reports.
“This is the highest level of political persecution as well as election interference in history,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “You remember it like I remember it: Russia, Impeachment Hoax 1, Hoax 2, Ukraine, the Mueller Hoax, the unconstitutional and illegal Mar-a-Lago raid, and now it’s this,” Trump said.
