Liberals Spread Blatant Falsehoods Following Parkland Shooting

In what has sadly become a routine practice at this point, left-wing ideologues have taken to social media to spread painful lies like this one in the immediate aftermath of the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida.

This meme is based on a headline which went viral in 2017, which claimed that the Trump administration and Republicans in Congress signed a law that allegedly made it easier for individuals with mental illnesses to purchase firearms. It was sold as the GOP moving radically to undo everything the Obama administration did.

The problem? This is blatantly untrue.

Instead, Congress removed a proposed rule that would have added people who receive Social Security payments due to mental impairments to the federal gun background database. In most instances, such disabilities had nothing to do with the inability to operate a firearm.

Sadly, this lie has been spread to such a degree that undoing the damage has been next to impossible.
