Leftists Have Re-Invented the Word “Greed”

Outside of the political world, the conventional definition of the word “greed” is pretty simple. It describes the urge to live outside of one’s means, usually at the expense of others. Stealing something, for example, is a classic case of greed on full display. It would be pretty difficult to find anyone to disagree with that, right?

Not when it comes to the radical left — which has twisted this definition around to have a nearly opposite meaning.

Consider the typical leftist response when conservatives object to things like higher taxes. Suddenly, these people are “greedy” for wanting to keep the money they’ve earned through their own labor. Why should people keep their own money when there are other people you need to bribe into voting for you?

For the sake of political discourse, it is imperative that conservatives reclaim the classic definition of words like this, and not allow progressives to twist them around for their benefit.
