We think it’s a joke, but there are definitely people out there who believe that the freshman U.S. Representative from New York has already merited the honor of gracing American currency.
So, let’s try to beat them to it, and put the face of the venerable Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — famous for penning a bill to slaughter farting cows and banning air travel — on a coin with a value to match her own.
Since taking office, AOC has become the face of the Democratic Party’s base. Sure, she doesn’t have the tact that people like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi does, and how could she? Pelosi has been in office since the Civil War (probably), and she knows a thing or two about making horrible ideas sound passable.
AOC hasn’t learned this yet, so she’s made the mistake of being abruptly honest about the progressive agenda. Because of this, it’s understandable how the freshman legislator and the House Speaker aren’t always on the best of terms with each other.
But, here you go, Democrats: this is the honor your “fresh face” deserves.
