Here’s Where Millennials Learn to Have Opinions

America’s millennials like to pride themselves as being among the most informed generation to have ever existed. Considering the technology they grew up with, and the instantaneous nature of the internet — this technically should be true.

Unfortunately, they are throwing this advantage in the trash by taking the words of two-bit comedians as gospel truth.

If you’ve watched any of the shows referenced in the image to the left, you know they all basically follow the same format: the host in question brings up a news topic, spends a couple minutes reporting what most people already know about it, and [insert Trump joke here].

Admittedly, at least two of these comedians (Trevor Noah is a waste of time) have actual talent when it comes to telling jokes, but their political commentary is nothing if not bland, predictable, and at times hysterical.

A true hallmark of an intellectual is the practice of exposing oneself to multiple sources, from multiple perspectives, and carefully arriving at a balanced conclusion. This is not what millennials are doing with these programs.
