From the KKK to Antifa: A History of Democrats Wearing Stupid Costumes

Seriously, what is up with radical Democrats and their costume choices?

In the immediate aftermath of the Civil War, a brutal conflict which wrought about the end of human slavery in North America as well as a long period of social unrest many believe still prevails today, disenfranchised Democrats wasted no time in taking advantage of the situation.

With the former Confederacy in literal ashes, southern Democrats maintained local power and loyalty by playing into a strategy which continues to serve them to this day: identity politics. Frustrated with the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments to the United States Constitution passing easily through the Republican-controlled Congress at the time, these Democrats formed the Ku Klux Klan in an attempt to resist the wave of social change.

Today, while the platform is decidedly different, many young black-clad Democrats continue to distinguish themselves from the rest through violent demonstrations. Granted, their target has moved from pure racism to capitalism as a whole, but the tactics are eerily similar.
