According to former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Field Office Director John Fabbricatore, President Biden’s downsizing of interior immigration enforcement has harmed hundreds of thousands more American families than previous administrations.
Fabbricatore testified during a House Judiciary Committee on Immigration hearing that the number of Angel Families—the families of Americans who have been victimized by illegal aliens—has increased as a result of Biden’s policies protecting the majority of the country’s 11 million to 22 million illegal aliens from being arrested and deported.
Fabbricatore asserts that if Biden had carried out interior immigration enforcement activities similarly to those carried out by previous administrations, including that of former President Obama, “there would already have been an additional 90,000 illegal aliens arrested that would have accounted for roughly another 300,000 convictions as well as charges.”
Chairman of the Subcommittee Tom McClintock (R-CA) questioned Fabbricatore, “Are you claiming there are 300,000 American families that endured acts of crime as a consequence of this administration’s policies?” Fabbricatore replied, “Yes sir.”
Fabbricatore, a member of the National Immigration Center for Enforcement (NICE) advisory board, also provided the panel with ICE arrest statistics, which revealed dramatic decreases in the number of convicted criminal illegal aliens arrested under Biden if you compare them to former President Trump.
“Is there any other logical, reasonable conclusions that can be drawn from these numbers other than the fact that the real purpose of these priorities is simply to minimize immigration enforcement within the interior of the U.S., despite the threat that the illegal aliens present to public safety as well as national security?” asked Fabbricatore.
“In actuality, Secretary Mayorkas’ whole argument is untrue. Statistics reveal the exact opposite outcome from what he said his plans would bring about. These are his own figures; they are not my words. Less severe offenders are being detained and fewer arrests are being made. In a nutshell. We are now in the third year of his current policies; if he really cared about removing criminals off the streets and out of the nation, wouldn’t he modify them now that he has witnessed more than two years of the opposite outcome?”
“Thousands, if not millions, of criminal immigrants, are still free in the United States, which is also important to note. The FY 2024 Budget Justification provided by President Biden made it very evident that there were over 400,000 convicted felons in the non-detained docket. Why aren’t these undesirable aliens imprisoned and deported?”
Biden most recently reinstated the so-called “sanctuary country” directives, according to Breitbart News, which has ensured that fewer criminal illegal aliens are ever hauled into ICE custody, even after being caught on local offenses.
In certain months of 2018, ICE issued over 15,000 detainers per month under Trump, while prior to Fiscal Year 2020, the agency issued on average of 13,000 to 14,000 detainers each month. When compared to those monthly numbers from when Biden took office, detainers per month fell to 2,200 by March 2021.
