Last Friday marked international women’s day. We’re not entirely sure how to observe that, but that apparently means that we have to sit through a lot of hot takes and think pieces penned specifically to make our faces fall flat on our desks.
So, to clarify: this isn’t a parody headline. This is a real article written by a real human — who is apparently a fitness instructor. As the headlines suggests, there is a real crisis in the fitness world where women aren’t able to stay as healthy as men, because they’re just so intimidated by weight rooms.
Now, ignore the fact that every time you step into a gym, there are women everywhere. And no, it’s not just on treadmills — they’re everywhere. They’re taking spin classes. They’re doing yoga. Some might even be trying their hand at kickboxing or some other combat sport. Some are hitting the squat rack even harder than the men are — albeit with less weight.
So, in other words, this is just another gap that doesn’t exist, and this article is just fodder for lazy feminists looking for another excuse to not go to a gym. Business as usual, really…
