In various online right-wing wing communities, there is a widespread theory that behind every rambunctious tweet and lively press conference, President Donald Trump has a secret motivation. In other words, he’s acting volatile on purpose to get his opponents to react — and then bog down press coverage.
We have a hard time believing this, considering that Trump has been doing and saying outlandish things since he was a billionaire playboy real estate tycoon in the 1980s. Hell, there is a video where it appears that Trump is pretending to be his own assistant during an interview with local media in the 1990s. All of this is baked into the cake.
Here’s the thing…this “4D chess” theory, as it’s called, is a lot more believable now than it was just a week ago — because it looks like Trump is totally fine with being impeached by House Democrats.
The last time a president was impeached, the opposing party was crushed in the next election cycle. Let’s be honest here — Republicans fumbled when they tried to impeach then-President Bill Clinton — and it looks like Democrats are in the same position today.
Either that, or this president is the luckiest person to sit in the Oval Office…
