This looks like a real re-tweet of an actual CNN story correction, but it’s fake. After a big error that CNN made in its coverage of the January 6 Capitol Kerfuffle, a bunch of variations of hilarious CNN correction memes popped up. Sen. Ted Cruz even retweeted this one, noting that he does love Doritos.
What really happened? Well, remember when the Members of Congress fled like sissies with plastic bags over their heads because a guy in a Chewbacca bikini was attempting to overthrow the government?
CNN reported that a studly man of action – Congressman Ted Lieu (D-DA) – grabbed a CROWBAR from his office as the Representatives were fleeing the building. Sure, Ted Lieu looks like a guy who has never changed a tire, but he keeps a crowbar in his office at all times – in case he needs to whoop some A.
Oh, wait. Nope. Nope, nope, nope. CNN got one of the details in that story wrong. In reality, Ted Lieu grabbed a ProBar energy bar before donning his plastic bag helmet and fleeing for his life like a coward from the guy in the Chewbacca bikini. Slight correction from CNN – but worth it for the memes it generated.
