Senator Bernie Sanders, who hopes to challenge President Donald Trump in 2020, bills himself as the champion of the poor and the working class.
This is incredible marketing, because it conceals the truth on two fronts. First, Sanders is anything but poor. Like many in the Senate, the Vermont lawmaker has at least three homes that we know about, including a lakeside vacation spot. Capitalism is pretty sweet, huh?
Second, the presidential hopeful has never had a legitimate job in his life — making his claim to champion the working class pretty laughable. His first paying job was as a lawmaker, which followed decades of him really not doing anything productive at all. In fact, he was even kicked out of a hippie commune because even they thought he was tool lazy.
Face it — you have to mess up pretty badly when a bunch of hippies think you need to get your life together.
So, how sincere is Bernie Sanders? It’s hard to tell, really. His love affair with the Soviet Union in the 1980s tells us that he really does have a soft spot for socialism — including it’s uglier variants. Perhaps that alone tells us everything that we need to know about him.
