Bob Dole Just Made NFL Players Look Really Pathetic

Former Senator Bob Dole, much like the late former President George HW Bush, is a relic of a greater time.

Dole and Bush both rose to the call to service when it really mattered during the Second World War — a conflict that saw the United States solidify its status as a military and economic superpower, as well as a global force for freedom and justice. And despite the two men at one point being political rivals within the Republican Party establishment, they maintained a mutual respect that is seldom seen in today’s political climate.

What you see pictured here was one of the most powerful moments during the state funeral honoring the now deceased Bush. Dole, who is clearly wheelchair-bound in his old age, had his handler help him stand so he could salute his commander-in-chief. It was a classic display of honor and respect that just can’t be replicated.

After seeing this, every NFL player who likes to take a knee during the national anthem just looked even more childish in the eyes of patriotic Americans, and rightly so.
