Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said on Tuesday that he will support President Joe Biden in his 2024 reelection campaign rather than challenge him.
The Associated Press was informed by Biden’s biggest competitor in the 2020 primary race that he would “do everything” to help the president win re-election, delaying his own bid for the presidency in 2024.
“The last thing that the United States needs is a Donald Trump or any other right-wing populist who intends to attempt to destroy American democracy or strip away women’s freedom to choose, or not confront the issue of gun violence, or racism, sexism, even homophobia,” Sanders said in a recent interview. “I will thus do all in my power to ensure the president’s reelection.”
Sanders’ choice follows the 80-year-old President Biden’s social media video announcement of his intention to run for reelection. He would be 86 when his second term ended. Biden’s campaign video fails to mention a single accomplishment from his first term or his plans for a second term if he is elected, as Joel Pollak of Breitbart News pointed out.
The Associated Press noted that Sanders had hinted at the potential of challenging the president in the last year before deciding to support Biden. Given that Sanders also advised against any other “high-profile progressive candidates” taking on Biden, his endorsement also raises the possibility that the far-left may unite behind the president.
Regarding those who are challenging the president, Sanders stated, “People will do whatever they wish to do.”
“I believe Joe Biden will be the Democrat nominee,” he continued. “And it’s my responsibility—as well as, in my opinion, the progressive movement’s—to see to it that he speaks out for the nation’s working class and refuses to take things for granted.”
As of now, only Marianne Williamson and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. have declared their intentions to seek the Democratic presidential candidacy in 2024. Kennedy even went so far as to claim that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has a “rigged” primary process in response to their criticism of the DNC for not scheduling any debates against Biden.
The dems cheat, that’s a fact. Now they’re cheating their own party to keep their socialist traitor puppet in office. Dems are a joke.
In my opinion, America does need Trump for 2024 POTUS. Trump will stand up to the radical Democrats/RINO’s, Global Elites, DC Swamp, etc. to protect American citizens. Under Trump’s administration, the US was prosperous and under the Biden administration Americans are struggling. It has come to the point where Americans need to unite and destroy the radical Democrats/RINO’s or America becomes a socialist’s country with NO FREEDOMS. Too much blood has been lost to keep America FREE and we shall stay FREE.
