This week, a bus transporting migrants from a border community in Texas made its second trip in just under three weeks to downtown Los Angeles.

Although not formally informed, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass’ office learned this week about the bus sent from Brownsville, Texas, to L.A. Union Station, according to a statement from Bass spokesman Zach Seidl.

“The City of Los Angeles would treat everybody with dignity and respect,” he declared.

A number of religious and immigrant rights organizations welcomed the 41 asylum seekers on board the bus when it arrived at approximately 12:40 p.m. According to a statement by the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights, there were eleven kids on the bus.

Belize, Colombia, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Mexico, and Venezuela were among the countries represented among the asylum aspirants. At St. Anthony’s Croatian Parish Center and church, they were given water, food, clothes, and basic legal immigration aid.

Coalition representative Jorge-Mario Cabrera stated that the gathering “was less chaotic and less stressed than the previous time.” In contrast to the first time, he said that the majority had sandwiches along with water when they were picked up by family members who lived nearby.

Six passengers needed to catch flights to Las Vegas, Seattle, San Francisco, and Oakland, he added; Los Angeles was not their last stop.

On June 14, a bus transporting 42 migrants from Texas arrived in the city. They were not given food or drink, and many came from Latin American nations like Honduras and Venezuela.

When speaking at the time, Bass declared that the city will not be misled by “petty politicians playing with people’s lives.”

Greg Abbott, the governor of Texas, said that he dispatched the bus to Los Angeles because California had proclaimed itself a “sanctuary” for immigrants, giving those who were living there illegally protections.

It wasn’t clear whether Abbott dispatched the most recent bus. His office did not immediately respond to a phone message.

Earlier in June, the state of Florida surprised Sacramento’s shelters and relief personnel when it picked up thirty-two migrants in Texas and flew them by private aircraft to the state’s capital.
