When you see pictures of politicians on the media — and by that we mean everything from cable news shows, to podcasts, and to blogs like this one — there’s a reason you’re seeing that particular image.
At the risk of giving away not-so-well-kept media secrets, the choice of a picture used can give away a source’s entire agenda. Now, we’re not exactly subtle with our perspective here, so we’re confident our readers know what they’re getting. But for major multi-billion-dollar corporations like CNN and the Washington Post that present themselves as objective news sources, it’s a very different story.
CNN and the Washington Post would never show you pictures of President Trump presenting a Purple Heart to a Marine who has been wounded it combat — because it’s impossible to look at this picture without feeling some degree of empathy. In this precise instance, Trump is pretty hard to hate, and that doesn’t fit the narrative.
