An Existential Crisis on the Campaign Bus

You’ve got to admit, Bernie Sanders is endlessly meme-able. He has a certain appeal because he reminds everyone of that kooky great-uncle at all of the family reunions who’s constantly ranting and raving about the moon landings. (Everyone else has that same great-uncle, right?)

Aside from that, everyone now gets Red Bernie confused with Larry David, after David’s spot-on portrayals of the aging socialist on Saturday Night Live. At least you’ve got that going for you, Bernie!

You also have to wonder what deep, existential thoughts were running through Bernie’s mind when this photograph was snapped on his campaign bus. The meme is probably a good guess.

The main problem that communists and socialists like Bernie have is that economics is, in fact, like a real thing. Numbers and math and human self interest all factor in to how you run a country, and Bernie and his neo-socialist followers can only deny that so far before reality kicks in.

Extra points to the photographer who captured this moment on the Bernie Bus, because we can
all chuckle for a moment before forgetting that Bernie is running for president again.
