Why Every American Should Oppose ‘Red Flag’ Laws

You’ve probably heard about the phenomenon of “Red Flag” gun laws that have been sweeping
the nation. These are laws that allow virtually anyone who doesn’t like you to easily get a court order and have your guns taken away from you.

All they have to do is petition a court under a ‘red flag’ law, and convince them that you are somehow dangerous. You don’t get to defend yourself against these allegations. In fact, you’re not invited to this court hearing that an angry ex-girlfriend or ex-boyfriend, ex-spouse, bitter co-worker, or even your mailman if he’s a jerk can call against you.

You only find out that you’ve been ‘red-flagged’ after the SWAT team shows up at your door to search your house and confiscate your firearms. The SWAT team won’t take “no” for an answer as they raid your house, and you can only protest the red flag confiscation at your own expense, after your guns have already been taken away.

It’s the exact opposite of your constitutional right to due process. And yet ‘Red Flag’ laws are being passed in multiple states. As this meme illustrates, nations that have red flags also have a history of gun confiscation – and that history didn’t turn out well for the disarmed citizenry.
