Lately, we’ve been seeing a lot of high-profile Democrats make an about-face on various political positions simply to virtue signal to their base that they are true hardcore obstructionists. But, what if we followed this thinking to its logical conclusion?
As far as the average American voter is concerned, the Democratic Party’s platform includes something about raising taxes and opposing just about everything President Donald Trump does or says. It’s the formula they’ve been using since the president announced his White House bid, and it’s clear they haven’t really found another approach yet.
This obstructionism is on full display today as the president moves forward in trying to get Judge Brett Kavanaugh confirmed for the Supreme Court. The announcement came after hyped speculation, but we already knew where the Democrats stood — they planned on opposing anyone Trump picked. The president could have thrown the left a bone and tapped would-be justice Merrick Garland, and the left would not have budged.
