The complete misinformation campaign on gun control continues as images like this spread faster than the wildfires in California.
In this meme, shared to Reddit’s ‘Political Humor’ page (while being curiously devoid of the latter), we are shown blanket images of prominent Republican lawmakers with absolutely zero context outside of that.
To make matters even worse for this content creator, the image includes former Speaker of the House John Boehner, who was voted out of his post in 2015. Not exactly a relevant figure in conservative politics…
But let’s talk about the bigger issue here, which is the conflation of the conservative positions on voter ID laws and background checks for firearm ownership.
Outside of the fringe, it’s actually pretty rare to hear any Republican in the Senate or anywhere else call for a repeal of background check requirements for purchasing a gun.
As for voter ID laws, this seems like common sense. Democrats love to mock President Donald Trump’s claims that “millions” of illegals managed to cast a vote during the last election cycle, alleging that this simply isn’t possible. At the same time, they oppose voter ID laws every time they are brought up. Perhaps they don’t want to disenfranchise their base?
