Meme Claims Obama Represented ‘Christian Leadership’

This image would almost be funny if the poster wasn’t completely serious.

In what we can only assume is a blatant attempt to “troll” the right, the content creator behind this image suggests that former President Obama is a better representative for Christian values than the current president.

Of course, President Donald Trump is hardly the most pious Republican we’ve ever seen the White House. Growing up in largely secular New York State, Trump represents the business side to conservatism more than anything else.

But, suggesting Obama is some sort of crusader is either dishonest, ignorant, or both.

If Obama is such a faithful Christian, why did he champion a law that mandated religious business owners to go against their beliefs and provide birth control to their employees? Why did he take a pro-choice stance on abortion, something that is abhorrent to even moderate Christians? Furthermore, why was he slow to react when the Islamic State began massacring Christians en masse during his time as president?

Politics aside, it would be unfair to label the former president as anything other than the religion he publicly identified with. However, taking this at face value is nothing short of foolish.
