Communism Doesn’t Feed Families — It Starves Them

We should start this review by noting that the image in question has been photoshopped, so it’s unfair to blame the professor pictured for the blatant stupidity on display.

That said, this is perhaps the most historically ignorant meme to hit social media in quite some time.

In an attempt to suggest that collectivist economies are more efficient in feeding civilizations, the content creator suggests capitalism is the only item on this list not capable of supporting a family of four.

Ignoring the fact that large pepperoni pizzas are a capitalist invention, let’s move on to the truth about communism and socialism.

Before the Second World War, the Soviet Union engaged in one of the most lethally effective genocides in history. The Holodomor, or Great Famine, killed an estimated 10 million people in Ukraine as a result of Soviet collective farming policies.

Initially, the policies were put in place to allegedly empower the working class in rural Ukraine. However, excessive redistribution of resources lead to mass starvation. In the end, this would prove be be just as deadly as Nazi Germany’s Holocaust, although it tends to go undiscussed in the classroom.

To this day, no capitalist economy has had to deal with mass starvation of any kind.
