In reaction to a pistol attack on January 21, 2023, President Joe Biden promoted an “assault weapons” ban at Tuesday’s State of the Union Address.
Biden then turned the conversation to the call for a ban on “assault weapons” by referencing the gun restrictions he signed on June 25, 2022. Senator John Cornyn (R) crafted the gun control package in collaboration with Democrats.
The gun control package, which Biden referred to as “the most comprehensive gun safety legislation in three decades” during the SOTU, “includes items that the vast majority of law abiding gun owners already support, like advanced background checks for people 18 to 21-year-old, red flag laws, and also keeping guns from the hands of individuals that are a danger to themselves and to others.”
He then argued for stricter gun laws, citing the January 21, 2023, mass massacre in Monterey Park, when the shooter shot and killed 11 unarmed civilians using a pistol.
After mentioning Brandon Tsay, the bystander who finally neutralized the attacker in Monterey Park, Biden remarked, “Tsay saved lives. It’s time for us to follow suit.”
“Ban assault weapons immediately,” he continued. “Ban them right now, permanently. In 1994, I spearheaded the effort to achieve that.”
Ironically, despite California’s “assault weapons” ban, the massacre at Monterey Park still occurred.
According to Breitbart News, the Biden White House promoted a ban on “assault weapons” in reaction to the handgun attack on the University of Virginia campus on November 13, 2022, which left three people dead.
According to Breitbart News, on October 16, 2022, Biden promoted a ban on “assault weapons” in reaction to a shooting in Raleigh, North Carolina, when a suspect reportedly brandished a shotgun and killed five people.

It’s obvious to me that Joe Biden and his anti-american minions wish to totally disarm all law abiding citizens in the United States. I agree with many others that believe that this has nothing to do with public safety, but with control. They question is this. How will they legally justify their door to door trashing of American privacy rights? The only way they can confiscate guns is to unlawfully search the homes of everyone in the U.S. I don’t see that happening.
You could proscribe a summary death penalty for anyone using a gun in any crime and criminals would merely use the knives you allude to.
