There’s nothing quite like a brain-less post by Facebook propaganda page Occupy Democrats to find an excuse to squash a tired liberal argument.
In this image, we see a picture of millennial favorite and self-described socialist Senator Bernie Sanders lamenting over the supposed idea that the number of incarcerated Americans outnumbers the country’s college population.
Social media users sharing this image probably have an idea of the United States as some massive prison complex, where education is suppressed and all other civil liberties are crushed under the thumb of oppression.
Here’s the thing: none of this is remotely true.
Approximately 2 million Americans are incarcerated in the United States. At the same time, roughly 20 million people are attending the country’s colleges. Of course, you wouldn’t hear about this on the same post because it completely eviscerates the image of America the content creator is trying to create.
