Read the text on this meme and let it sink in for a moment. Never before in the history of mankind have nations decided to quarantine healthy people when a new virus is going around.
Quarantines from the Old Testament until just last year have always involved quarantining the sick people and helping them, while life goes on for everyone else. The shutdowns, shelter in place, stay-at-home orders that governments have been issuing left and right are the exact opposite of this.
This isn’t an accident. 41 of our 50 states have decided to murder their economies rather than risk having some people get sick. The damage for this is incalculable, and we have no idea just how badly the damage from the shutdowns is going to impact all of us.
But make no mistake about it, we know it’s going to be bad. Nearly 20 million people have been thrown out of work already. This was not a well-thought-out plan. We need to find a better way forward, because this taste of tyranny we’re all getting right now isn’t fun anymore.
