Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a Democrat from New York, told GQ that many Americans despise women and that she occasionally doubts her chances of winning the presidency.
When asked if she believed that she or someone like her could ever rule the country, the progressive politician responded, “Sometimes small girls will say, ‘Oh, I wish you was president,’ or things like that,” according to the site. “I find it extremely hard to discuss because it gives me a great deal of internal turmoil since I never want to limit a young lady. Furthermore, I don’t want to inform the new generation of what is impossible. I’ve never made it my practice to do that,” said Ocasio-Cortez.
“I am simultaneously thinking about two things that are incompatible. One is simply the unwavering faith that anything is possible” said the congresswoman. “However, my time here has also allowed me to witness firsthand how deeply and deliberately, as well as instinctively, so many people in this nation despise women. They also don’t like women of color. People often enquire about the future. And to be honest, I’m not even sure whether I’ll be alive in Sept. and I’m deeply affected by that. Not just the right wing, though. Political ideology—left, right, and center—have no bearing on misogyny. Men, as I already indicated, but also, intellectually, there is an astonishing lack of self-awareness in so many places, so this grasp of patriarchy impacts all of us, not just women. These are therefore two extremely opposing ideas. I will admit that there are moments when I think that my nation would never allow it to happen.”
According to the publication, she said, “Could Obama have gotten elected without the type of financial assistance that he had?,” hinting that her opposition to Wall Street would pose a huge barrier in her way. “I’m not sure,”
Ocasio-Cortez, who has been a member of the U.S. House of Representatives since 2019, isn’t old enough to be president at the moment, but she’ll be 35 just before the 2024 presidential election, when the Constitution’s minimum age requirement for the office will be met.
According to GQ, Ocasio-Cortez remarked, “I attempt to think about how I can be much more helpful and, truthfully, to this point, I have not come up with a solution that I have found more efficient than what I’m doing at the moment. But this is an issue that I frequently revisit.”
You know? I’m not going to belabor the obvious about AOC, her record of incompetence speaks for itself. Suffice to say, it’s not women in office I dislike, it’s the shear incompetence of this particular woman I dislike.
