If You’re Against ICE, You’re Against Borders in General

There is a growing movement within the Democratic Party to abolish the very agency in charge of protecting America’s borders, and it’s starting to garner some mainstream support.

What was once considered to be a radical idea from the fringe left is now gaining traction among real politicians. Abolishing ICE, some Democrats say, is necessary because they are mean to people who are entering the country illegally.

It’s odd that these Democrats are choosing to throw their political weight behind people whose very first actions on American soil was to break the law…

It’s worth noting that the American public is very much against abolishing ICE. Even Democratic-leaning voters prefer to have ICE operating in some way, albeit perhaps in a more limited state than it is now. Nevertheless, support for ICE among the American people is strong. But, this isn’t a message that is going to resonate with the radical base that supports the likes of Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren and New York congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

This is where the left is now. As Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders recently said, ideas that were once considered to be too radical are now mainstream — largely because of his own presidential campaign in 2016.

Well done, Democrats. You’re actually campaigning against one of the very things that makes a country a country.
