Sometimes, the internet’s memers hit the nail on the head, and this is certainly one of those times.
Reacting to a shocking report about a then-14-year-old actor’s experience with an allegedly drunken Kevin Spacey, the Oscar-nominated actor took to Twitter to issue what was effectively a half-apology and half-coming out event. Even the mainstream media was set back by Spacey’s strange deflection, with the left-leaning Guardian publishing a piece slamming the actor for perpetuating a disgusting myth about homosexuals.
What would this reaction look like if it was applied to other, less serious crimes? This meme gives us an idea.
“Sir, how fast do you think you were going when you drove through that stop sign?” a hypothetical police officer asks.
Seeing no other option, a hypothetical Kevin Spacey responds the best way he can.
“I’m gay.”
Sexuality is no excuse for sexual assault. Quite frankly, neither is anything else.
To be fair, this story is largely built around unsubstantiated allegations, but if we have to follow progressive Hollywood’s example and take every accusation seriously, regardless of how long ago it may have occurred, it’s only fair that they play by the same rules.
