Gov. Kathy Hochul, a Democrat from New York, has declared that around 1,000 members of the state police, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), and the National Guard will be conducting bag inspections across the city’s subway system.
According to Hochul (D-N.Y.), the reinforcements will assist the New York Police Department (NYPD) in patrolling “the city’s busiest subway terminals” in light of a rise in underground crime.
Hochul declared, “These blatant, horrible attacks on our subway system will not be accepted,” along with the release of a five-point strategy aimed at combating the city’s subterranean crime plague.
According to Hochul, “no one should fear that the individual sitting next to them owns a dangerous weapon when they are heading to their job, visiting relatives, or going to a doctor’s appointment. They shouldn’t be concerned about potential knife- or gun-related threats. We are going to use these checkpoints for that purpose.”
Due to a crackdown by NYC Mayor Eric Adams and Hochul, subway users may soon have to endure “random” bag inspections. Together with the mayor, the governor is actively trying to halt the wave of attacks.
Adams pointed out that while 542 individuals were imprisoned last year for more than 7,600 shoplifting offenses, 38 people were arrested in 2023 for 1,126 attacks on MTA employees. Hochul said that she will shortly propose a new rule prohibiting anybody convicted of a serious transport attack from using the bus or subway system.
Hochul stated, “Basically, you won’t be on the subways if you assault someone.”
Regarding the repeat offenders, Hochul remarked, “We know who they are.” “When making judgments about charging and bail, they will indicate the criminal history at the moment of arrest.”
In keeping with the new strategy, the MTA will equip every train car by the end of 2024 with CCTV cameras, helping to safeguard transport employees.
The poor are lashing out at the system and each other as per the usual. But then we have the former President with 91 indictments , federal and state, hanging over him for being a fraud ,a rapist ,a threat to national security, possession of stolen ,top secret defense files many of which are still missing, INSURRECTION in attempting to halt the counting of electoral ballots on January 6,2021 and a failed attack on the Capitol building that caused the deaths of three Capitol Police officers and the death of one insurrectionist shot and killed during the attempted coup. When we have cowards in the Uvalde Texas Police Department who stood around for 77 minutes while 16 children were murdered in their school ,shows us the police departments must vett all acting officers more strictly.

Wait … what ??? I thought Biden said crime is lower then when he took office, and he cleaned all the crime up and only a few bad apples got through the cracks.
