After embarrassing losses in both the House and Senate, President Biden is making it clear that he plans to sign a bill that will protect funding for shooting and archery programs offered by schools across the country.
It was claimed by Breitbart News that Representative Mark Green (R-TN) pushed for the Protecting Hunting Heritage and Education Act. In the House, which is run by Republicans, it passed with 424 votes to 1.
Is passed by the U.S. Senate without a single vote against it.
According to the Sportsmen’s Alliance, the measure “guarantees that government financing for outdoor activities such as archery, hunting, and shooting won’t be blocked by the Department of Education.”
A report from late July, cited by Breitbart News, said that the Biden administration was denying schools funding for hunting and/or archery programs. They did this by saying that the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965 and the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) did not allow schools to receive funding if certain weapons were used in their programs.
Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) assisted Biden in securing the BSCA, a gun control measure that modified an ESEA clause that forbade the provision of hazardous weapons or the funding of “training in the proper handling of a dangerous weapon.”
By making changes to the ESEA, the Protecting Hunting Heritage and Education Act takes away Biden’s education department’s ability to use the ESEA to undermine the BSCA in order to refuse funds for school hunting and/or shooting programs.
The Hunting Heritage and Education Act is set to be signed by Biden, according to information obtained by FOX News from the White House.
