If you’re a white person living somewhere in North America, chances are you’ve been fed the narrative that there has never been any circumstance in which your skin color has been used against you.
Now, granted: this criticism would have held much more weight at various other points in American history, including Jim Crow, the separate but equal doctrine, and of course — slavery. But, in 2018, all legal barriers preventing people of a certain ethnic heritage from achieving anything have been removed.
Despite this incredible progress in social development, leftists continue to push the idea that institutional racism, as they call it, is perfectly alive and well. Whites, they claim, simply have no place in the debate either. This is just another flavor of racism.
Thankfully, many minorities throughout history have resisted the left’s temptation to play the identity politics game. Just recently, hip-hop star and black icon Kanye West ran off the plantation and set it on fire in the process by coming out as a Trump supporter — making it much harder for the left to write the movement off as some sort of white supremacist fantasy.
