Whoopi Goldberg, co-host of ABC News’ The View, told her audience on May 6th that “we will do whatever we have to do to take care of our own” — a line so loaded you could chamber it — while her colleague Joy Behar openly declared she doesn’t trust Republicans not to “cheat” in the November midterms. This is apparently what passes for daytime television on a Disney-owned network in 2026.
Imagine — just imagine — if Sean Hannity had looked into the camera in October 2020 and said “we will do whatever we have to do.” We’d still be watching the congressional hearings.
But when Whoopi says it? Applause. When Joy Behar says “I don’t trust them to not cheat. I don’t” — delivered with all the subtlety of a toddler refusing broccoli — the studio audience nods along like bobbleheads in an earthquake. No fact-check banner. No “dangerous rhetoric” panel on CNN that night. Nothing.
Let’s be clear about what happened here. The View, which airs on ABC News to millions of viewers, spent a segment on May 6, 2026, doing two things simultaneously. First, Goldberg issued what can only be described as a veiled threat, warning that “The United States of America is not going to spiral with you” and calling it “a sign” — adding, “if you can’t see the writing on the wall, that’s the problem.” Second, Behar laid the groundwork for contesting the 2026 midterm results before a single ballot has been cast.
“I’m really worried about the November elections,” Behar said. Then came the kicker: “I don’t trust that Elon Musk.”
As NewsBusters’ Nicholas Fondacaro reported, co-host Sunny Hostin even cited Democrats’ supposed ten-point polling lead — apparently as evidence that if Democrats lose, foul play must be involved. That’s not political analysis. That’s pre-loading an excuse.
So let’s do the math here. When Donald Trump raised questions about election security, he got impeached. Twice, if you count the sequel. The January 6th committee spent 18 months and millions of taxpayer dollars building the case that questioning election results was itself an act of insurrection. “Big Lie” became the media’s favorite two-word phrase. Anyone who said the word “stolen” within 50 yards of a ballot box got banned from social media faster than you could say “community guidelines.”
But Joy Behar can sit on national television, look America in the eye, and say she doesn’t trust Republicans not to cheat — six months before the election — and that’s just… a valid concern? Whoopi can hint at doing “whatever we have to do” and that’s… passion?
The hypocrisy isn’t even subtle anymore. They’re not even trying to hide it.
Here’s what’s actually happening. Democrats see the midterms coming. They see the polls tightening. They know that historically, the party in opposition picks up seats. And so they’re doing exactly what they accused Trump of doing — they’re pre-seeding the narrative that if they lose, the election was stolen.
It’s the same playbook. Word for word. Except when they run it, the networks don’t call it “undermining democracy.” They call it The View.
Whoopi closed her little sermon with this gem: “This is a sign and if you can’t see the writing on the wall, that’s the problem.” She’s right about one thing — there is writing on the wall. It says: rules for thee, but not for me. And it’s written in permanent marker.
