Venezuela Before and After Socialism in One Picture

What is there to be said about the socialist hellhole of Venezuela that hasn’t already been said?

The latest failure of leftist political thought was once heavily praised by western progressives, only to be cast aside as another example of socialism just being implemented incorrectly when Venezuela’s economy tanked. Funny how that seems to happen a lot — as in every single time.

At this point, it’s hard to label the South American country as anything other than a failed state — that is, a country that is completely broken from the inside and out. And while the people who live there can certainly be saved (presumably from the removal of the Maduro regime), no one either inside of the country or watching from the sidelines seems to want to. Of course, this would be tantamount to admitting that socialism just doesn’t work.

So here we are with another example of the tragic effects of centralized planning, top-down regulations, and chasing businesses away. Take a moment to let this image sink in — it’s eerily reminiscent of what many in Eastern Europe had to endure during the Cold War.
