We just want to take another moment to celebrate the destruction of one of the most brutal and repressive terrorist organizations the world has ever seen.
In the relatively short period of time it existed, ISIS — or, the Islamic State as it preferred to be called at one point — ripped the Islamic world apart. While almost every civilized country denied its legitimacy, the radical Islamic terror group once commanded the territory the size of the state of Ohio. It established a quasi-government, and strictly enforced its cultural values onto the people unfortunate enough to live under its rule.
ISIS truly was a scourge on humanity, and at one point it seemed unstoppable.
The Islamic State’s terror was not confined to Iraq and Syria. It influenced an untold number of copycats, including many westerners that were happy to carry out its abhorrent mission. Mass killings in the United States, France, the United Kingdom, and elsewhere were claimed by the Islamic State.
In 2019, that organization is humiliated and defeated. Its two leading members were slain by American forces within the same week, and there is no path forward for them other than total annihilation.
