Ah, socialism — the political philosophy of the working man, and the righteous effort to liberate all mankind from commercial tyranny.
Being a socialist is pretty fashionable these days, particularly for younger Americans who are spellbound by the idea that “democratic socialism” is completely separate from the Soviet-style communism that lead to the deaths of well over 100 million people in the 20th century.
One of the most popular modern followers of this philosophy is New York Democratic congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Like Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, Ocasio-Cortez bills herself as a “democratic socialist” — which means she stands firm against capitalist excesses, right?
Apparently not…
As this image reveals, the 28-year-old former bartender does indeed have a taste for the finer things in life. Granted, the cost of the outfit pictured pales in comparison to anything the likes of Hillary Clinton or Michelle Obama would wear any other day of the week, but it does call into question her true commitment to the socialist cause.
By donning an expensive outfit like that, isn’t she in effect supporting the system she claims to be fighting against?
