With Donald Trump and the Republicans in Congress poised for a big win on taxes — easily the most winnable issue for the party — the Democratic left is having a complete meltdown.
The image to the left essentially encompasses the prevailing leftist argument against passing tax reform, namely that bad poll numbers for the tax cuts should mean that they don’t go through. So, once again, we have to explain to every liberal in America what a “democracy” actually is, and how the United States has never really been one — and that’s a good thing.
Before we do that, let’s talk about this alleged bad polling. A lot of that has to do with the media, which has wrongfully reported that the cuts are mainly aimed at the upper class and somehow raise taxes on the poor. This is simply untrue — for the record, poor people aren’t even taxed in the United States. Under this plan, the majority of Americans will see a tax cut in one way or another.
And finally, for the 11 millionth time, the United States was never founded as nor has ever existed as a democracy, which is essentially mob rule by a simple majority. America was founded as a constitutional republic, meaning that there are distinct limits for governmental powers, and leaders are elected to make political decisions on behalf of their constituents.
